ทรงเป็นผู้วอนแห่งอาละฟา
ในวิญญาณทรงสอนข้า
ข้าไม่รู้จะวิงวอนอย่างไร
แต่ทรงนำเราทั้งหลาย
ทรงเป็นผู้วอนแห่งโอเมฆา
อาเมน ที่ยิ่งใหญ่นั้น
ยามข้ายุติวิงวอนทุกครา
เผยความรู้สึกเหมือนกัน
แต่ในระหว่างเบื้องต้นเบื้องปลาย
ทรงให้เราต่อประสาน
ใช้ถ้อยคำคล้ายไม่ชัดบรรยาย
แปลออกสำเนียงองค์ท่าน
พระองค์ผู้อยู่เบื้องต้นเบื้องปลาย
ให้คำวอนข้ามากมาย
ประสานสนิทพระทัยองค์ท่าน
บรรยายสิ่งทรงต้องการ
สิ่งที่ไม่อาจทูลวอนนานา
ทรงเป็นการเริ่มต้นข้า
คำวอนสั้นง่ายทั้งไม่ชัดเจน
สุดท้ายพระองค์ทรงเป็น
Christ is the Alpha of our prayers;
We know not how to pray
Save as His Spirit in our hearts
Shall teach us what to say.
Christ is the Omega of prayer,
The Father’s great Amen
That rounds our halting periods
To sense beyond our ken.
But in the little space between,
He let us make the links,
And with our slow and stammering speech
Interpret what He thinks.
O First and Last, take Thou the prayers
Of every trusting soul,
And weld them to Thine own desire
To make a perfect whole.
Thou great Beginning of that Word
We cannot speak or spell,
Of the short syllable we lisp
Be Thou the End as well!

在我禱告停息之時，

用那不清似吃話語，

使我所有禱告
與你心願完全結合，
說出你之所要。

全有你作其始；
我們簡短不清之禱，
其終願你也是！
